Tom Betzelt

Product and Repair Support Specialist

Tom is responsible for fielding customer and dealer inquiries regarding product configurations, troubleshooting product installations in aircraft, and Technical Documentation for all AEM, Northern Airborne Technology (NAT), and Skytrac System products. He is the first point of contact for setting up new AEM dealerships and prepares quotes for all Skytrac Systems incoming and outgoing repairs. Tom also substitutes for Ray Guenther, AEM's Director of Maintenance when Ray is away. Tom is a busy fellow. He's a Licensed Transport Canada Aircraft Maintenance Engineer "E" (SCA & ACA) -- has been for over 30 years -- and has over 40 years experience in the avionics field. His extensive avionics installation and bench repair experience make Tom very effective at troubleshooting wiring and box issues for AEM customers.

Tom graduated from SAIT Polytechnic in Calgary, AB. as a student of the first Avionics Technology Program ever offered in Canada. Tom started a successful Avionics Sales and Repair facility from the ground up, and was the Director of Maintenance there for nine years. He sold the business and joined Cobham Aerospace/Northern Airborne Technologies (NAT) in Product Support before transitioning to AEM as their Product and Repair Support Specialist.

"AEM is a young, innovative, expanding company. We genuinely care about the people who purchase and use our products and services."

Tom never knows what to expect on any given day, and he likes this aspect of his job. No two days are the same. He also enjoys troubleshooting other manufacturers' installations and likes the wide variety of people he deals with on any given day.

Tom owned a ghost town on the Alberta/Montana border, working to renovate it to its original condition. He also had an ammonite shell lease mine in southern Alberta, where he collected ammonite fossil shells for the ammolite gem. Tom is usually outdoors in his spare time -- fishing, rock and gem hunting, gold panning, Metal Detecting, and digging up Ghost Towns. He enjoys 4 x 4 off-roading, mountain biking, swimming, and is a working lapidary.

Tom was born in Calgry, AB and lived there for most of his life. He and his family emigrated to Perth, Australia for a year then returned to Canada, residing in places such as Okotoks, Lethbridge, High River, Del Bonita, and finally Kelowna.
